Become a Mediator

If you are passionate about peacemaking and want to make mediation into your career or a supplementary service in your field, we have the training you will need!

Currently, there is no degree program in Saskatchewan for mediation. Certifications come from various organizations. Designations, such as Qualified Mediator and Chartered Mediator, are given by the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Canada.

Each mediator may choose a different path to learn and develop their mediation skills because the mediation field is unregulated. There are many diverse training opportunities.

Our Academy provides valuable educational opportunities and a community of dispute resolution professionals. Our programs use the six-phase understanding based model of conflict resolution. Our mediation training is open to anyone and based out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

12-Week Mediation Certification Program

This program consists of six modules. You can take the modules individually for $550 + taxes each in any order. Or, you can choose to sign-up for the full 12-week program and receive one module for free! When signing-up for all six modules, you may choose to take the modules consecutively or take them as they work for their schedule.

Cost: $2,750 + tax

Module 1: Introduction to Dispute Resolution

In this module, you will explore the different ways people resolve disputes. We will practice hands-on conflict management skills through participation in live-action roleplays. This module is ideal for people new to dispute resolution and people with experience interested in learning about other methods.


Cost: $550 + tax

Module 2: Introduction to Mediation

In this module, you will learn the six-phase understanding-based mediation model and practice using it in live-action roleplays. This module is ideal for people new to mediation and for people with experience who are interested in refining their skills and practicing this mediation model.

Module 3: Mediating Workplace Disputes

In this module, you will learn critical considerations for mediating workplace disputes. This training is ideal for people who are interested in providing mediation services to businesses and in workplaces. This module is also suitable for people who already offer mediation services to businesses and workplaces and want to refine and further develop their skills.

Module 4: Mediating Elder & Estate Matters

In this module, you will learn about the intricacies of mediating elder and estate matters and work on your mediation skills by roleplaying multi-party scenarios. This module is ideal for people who have already taken introductory mediation training and already practice as professional mediators.

Module 5: Introduction to Family Law

In this module, you will learn about the provincial and federal legislation that applies to people in family disputes. You will work on your mediation skills by roleplaying scenarios that focus on family law disputes. This module is ideal for people who have taken introductory mediation training and already practice as professional mediators.

Cost: $550 + tax

Module 6: Mediating Family Disputes

In this module, you will learn about special considerations for mediating family disputes. You will work through simulated family dispute mediations; these roleplay scenarios may or may not include legal aspects. This module is ideal for people who have already taken introductory mediation training and have family law training/knowledge/practical experience. It is also for people who already work as professional family mediators.

Making Money Mediating - Intensive

Do you want to make mediation your day job? If so, this is the course for you! Clarify your vision and learn the basics of how to become a successful private mediator. This course is for people who want to be full-time mediators with their own mediation business.

Cost: $250 + tax

To optimize the learning experience, we recommend taking the Introduction to Family Mediation course, Mediating Family Disputes course, or both, before taking this course. Introduction to Family Mediation

This course will develop the skills you need to offer mediation services under the early family dispute resolution legislation. We recommend you have prior introductory mediation training, experience as a professional mediator, or both.

Drafting Documents for Mediators

This course is ideal for mediators who want to learn how to write documents for their mediation clients. Explore writing retainer agreements, agreements to mediate, memorandum of understanding, and other documents you might need to draft for your mediation clients. We recommend you have prior introductory mediation training, experience as a professional mediator, or both.

Professional Ongoing Development System [PODS]

The PODS Master Class is ideal for mediators of any experience level looking to build their entrepreneurial skills. It is a 40+ hour program delivered over a 12-month timeframe.
